Good response to Jones & Shipman exhibit at EMO

Following their first EMO as members of The Hardinge Grinding Group exhibiting alongside L Kellenberger & Co., Leicester based Jones & Shipman Grinding Ltd report a very encouraging show with a positive reaction to their new products. UltGrnd2000cutout At EMO Jones & Shipman exhibited three machines including a world debut for the latest UltraGrind 2000 CNC precision cylindrical grinding centre. Also featured were the Suprema 650 Easy cylindrical grinder and the TechMaster 634 Easy surface and profile grinder. “It was a busy exhibition and we felt visitors were reacting well to our products and those on the adjacent Kellenberger stand,” claims Jones & Shipman Managing Director Mike Duignan. “It was good to be in such a focussed grinding area and this gave visitors the chance to assess a wide range of grinding machine options available within the Hardinge Grinding Group which features four world class companies in Kellenberger, Jones & Shipman, Hauser and Tschudin.” Pride of place for Jones & Shipman was the debut of the UltraGrind 2000 which builds upon the success of the smaller capacity 1000 machine and features a brand new modular wheelhead design. This allows multiple internal/external wheelspindle configuration options which can be factory set by Jones & Shipman to suit the customer’s specific applications. In effect this converts the UltraGrind into a customised machine but without the associated costs and build times. Also featured was the Jones & Shipman Suprema 650 Easy cylindrical grinder which is one of three machines in this range, all being equally adept at precision toolroom work or batch and high volume grinding in production environments. Features of the machines are the wheelhead options with either a swivelling universal wheelhead or a fixed external version available. Third of the featured machines was the TechMaster 634 Easy, a heavy duty surface and profile grinder that has been purpose designed to offer ease of use coupled with the highest levels of productivity in full production environments. It has three modes of operation – manual, semi or fully automatic – with a key feature of the machine’s design being its ability to offer the operator all of the advantages of CNC control without the complexity of traditional CNC systems. There is also automatic compensated wheel dressing on demand either within or outside of the grinding cycle. Next to Jones & Shipman, Kellenberger were exhibiting new cylindrical grinding products utilising hydrostatic guideways and torque motor B axis designs for ultimate in speed, productivity and precision. Hauser the world renowned jig grinding manufacturer exhibited their latest H45 400 model offering huge increases in productivity and increased capacity whilst maintaining the ultimate in precision repeatability and reliability. “The visitor mix was excellent and for Jones & Shipman, with 70% of its business being exports from the UK, the value of a truly international event such as EMO cannot be under-estimated,” says Mike Duignan. “To have our colleagues at Kellenberger now actively promoting J&S products and offering a huge support network can only benefit our profile in international markets,” he concludes.
